Warrington Town made the journey to Radcliffe, looking to build on their recent good spell of form against a side struggling in the league, but thriving in the cup competitions.

Town brought Chris Oldfield, Chris Thompson and Louis Corrigan into the starting line up in place of Mike Langley, Jamie Henders and Chris Gahgan, which proved an inspired decision virtually straight away, as Town almost took the lead inside of a minute, Thompson latching onto a neat build up by his colleagues, only to see his lobbed effort cannon back off the crossbar with Radcliffe keeper Nick Culkin beaten.

Warrington were not to be denied for long, and scored what proved to the only goal of the game in the seventh minute, Chris Thompson producing a fine glancing header from Sam Finley's excellent cross, which left Culkin statuesque. After taking the lead early on, Town looked to build on their advantage, Finley driving narrowly over the bar soon after.

The home side got into the game and had a great chance to equalise in the twelvth minute, striker Griff Jones heading over from inside the six yard box, when he really should have scored. Town were indebted to defender River Humphreys soon after, clearing off the line after returning goalkeeper Chris Oldfield had raced out to deny an earlier attack.

Chris Oldfield re-deemed himself soon after, saving with his legs from striker Craig Roberts. After this spell of pressure, Town gradually began to control the game once again, and were unlucky not to go further ahead in the twenty second minute, Finley reaching a pull back from Collins, only to see his angled shot strike the post and bounce behind for a goal kick.

Chris Thompson was next to go close for Town, shooting narrowly wide from the edge of the box after a good build up from his team mates, before Collins saw his diving header saved at full length by Culkin.
The home side came out and immediately looked more solid at the back, resticting Town to a long range effort from midfielder Kyle Hamid early on, before striker Anthony Hickey was denied by a last gasp challenge as he bared down on the Boro goal.

The visitors should have moved further ahead soon after, Louis Corrigan reaching Hickey's excellent pass before inexplicably hitting the only Boro defender on the line, before Thompson blasted over from the clearance.

Radcliffe had their best chance to equalise soon after the hour, Oldfield producing a fine save from a Boro free kick before winger Steve Burke hit the rebound across the face of the Town goal, where no-one could get a touch for the home side.

Once again, after this let off, Town went searching for a second goal, with Finley shooting narrowly over the bar with Culkin beaten. With eight minutes left, Town thought that they had the goal that would have sewn the game up, when Hickey headed home full back Mike Duffy's excellent cross, only to see the assistant referee's flag raised for offside. The last chance of the game fell to Finley, who shot wide from six yards, as Town held out for a deserved three points.
