WARRINGTON Town battled back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw away at high-flying Rushall Olympic, thanks to a last gasp goal from Mike Grogan.

Manager less, missing six players through injury and suspension and a delayed kick off due to traffic problems on the M6, the odds appeared stacked against Warrington, especially after they went a goal behind after just nine minutes, when Olympic’s Reid head home from a free kick.

It could have been two on 32 minutes, but the recalled Karl Wills pulled off a stunning save to deny Reid’s half volley.

But Rushall, who are 4th in the table just one point off the top, did double their lead just before the break following a poor defensive clearance which provide Fitzpatrick with a gift he buried in the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

Early in the seocnd half Warrington should have pulled a goal back after good work by Harries only for Peers to scuff his shot wide.

Warrington thought they were back in the game whenb Kilheeney lashed the ball home on 68 minutes only for the referee to bring play back for a foul on Peers.

With the clock ticking down it didn’t look like being Warrington’s night but then on 79 minutes a cracking ball by Gillespie bounced around in the box allowing Speed to find the back of the net.

Then in the final minute of normal time the ball found its was into the box for Grogan to battle through and fire into the roof of the net to level the scores.

It wasn’t a game for the faint hearted as Rushall created a glorious opening in added time only for reid to blaze wide with the goal gaping.
