Subs not used: Smeaton. Radcliffe: Not available WARRINGTON Town face an FA Cup replay after being held 1-1 at home by Radcliffe Borough in the 2nd qualifying round today in front of their biggest crowd of the season. After disposing of higher league Nantwich in the previous round and near neighbours Leigh in the qualifying round, Warrington, produced a disappointing first half performance and trailed 0-1 at the break after Borough’s Steve Howson, lobbed keeper Richie Mottram in the 39th minute with a clinical finish. After manager Joey Dunn’s half-time team talk Warrington turned up in the second half and dominated much of the game but had to rely on a Chris Gaghan penalty on 65 minutes for handball, to ensure they stayed in the competition. Town had another good penalty appeal turned down as they pushed for a winner as Radcliffe appeared content to settle for the draw. Late drama saw the need for a substitute referee after the match day official suffered a knee injury. The seven minute delay came just at the wrong time for Town who had the momentum. After the match manager Joey Dunn said: “It was a very disappointing first half but the lads picked themselves up in the first half and we were unlucky not to get a result. “But we are in the draw for the next round and will travel to Radcliffe confident we can get a result.” The replay will take place at Radcliffe on Tuesday night kick off 7.45pm when Town had been due to entertain Osset Albion in the league, which will now be rescheduled for later in the season. | ||||||
