Match Details: Monday 25th August 2008 Northern Premier League Division 1 North
Attendance: 132 Warrington Town: Richard Mottram, Matty Farrell, Scott Williams, Anthony Kielty, Andy Thomas, Jamie Holme, Kevin Towey, Francis Smith, Carl Rendell (Calvin Davies), Anthony Daniels, Phil Hadland. Subs not used: James Thomas, Billy Webb. Rossendale: Not available WARRINGTON Town could easily have gone into this game demoralised after the 4-1 disaster at Mossley. But in fact they gave as good as they got and emerged with a valuable point. The first half was a lack-lustre affair, with neither side threatening goal. Rossendale took the lead on 57 minutes after the Town defence backed away from Paul Derrick, who unleased a 20-yard drive past Richard Mottram in goal. There followed a crucial stage of the game when Town could well have lost their way. But in fact they equalised on 73 minutes when Calvin Davies, who had come on for Carl Rendell Davies, opened his account with a left foot shop past the Rossendale keeper. The closing stages of the game belonged to Town, but attempted headers from Farrell and Davies failed to find the target. In the end it was a fair result as neither side had controlled the game. | ||||||
