Attendance: 98 Shepshed Dynamo: Not available Warrington Town: Danny Morton, McAllister, Chris Fitzsimmons, Tony Dunne, Liam Coyne, Karl Robinson, Steve Smith, Michael Ellison, Chris Moores (Graeme Mitchell), Ged Courtney, Kevin Hannon TOWN travelled to struggling Shepshed Dynamos looking to add to their recent good league form and continue their climb up the table. The yellows began brightly,taking the game to the home side, but it was Shepshed who created the first opportunity when striker Carl Francis forced Danny Morton into a good low save, before Town striker Ged Courtney dragged an effort narrowly wide. The flashpoint of the first half came in the 13th minute when Courtney was denied by what appeared to be a clear handball by defender Sam Carter. Town midfielder Mike Ellison then went close on a couple of occasions shortly after, forcing Shepshed keeper Garry Hateley into very good saves. The home side were still in the game and once again Morton was called into action to deny Francis a goal scoring opportunity. Town were starting take control of play, but could find no way through the Dynamos’ defence. Chris Moores did go close shortly before half time though, his curling 25-yard effort drifting narrowly wide of the target. The second half began as the first half had ended, with Town in control. Karl Robinson scuffed an early effort narrowly wide and Courtney headed off target after he could only direct Moores’ cross into the side netting. Town were well in control of the game but didn’t look like creating too much in terms of chances. The introduction of Graeme Mitchell gave Town fresh impetus and indeed it was Mitchell who handed Town a deserved lead, beating Hateley to Kevin Hannon’s cross and head the opening goal in the 78th minute. The home side didn’t seem to respond and Town continued to control the game. However substitute Tom Guiney forced Morton into a save deep into injury time, which ensured that Town went away with all three points. | ||||||
