Latham looked to have consigned Town to their fifth straight defeat when he conceded the penalty that allowed Clitheroe to take the lead but he quickly atoned for his error by scoring the equaliser just three minutes later. Town selected midfielder Chris Bermingham - back at Cantilever Park after leaving earlier in the season - for the penultimate home game of the season, and Simon Burton was relegated to the bench. Warrington caused the Clitheroe defence numerous problems in the first half, and Graeme Mitchell was unfortunate not to find the net. Colin Flood had to be alert in the second period but he could do nothing to prevent Paul Crompton giving Clitheroe a 69th-minute lead, after Latham had pulled Roscoe's shirt.
